Very loyal and generous in his under the radar-style
Way back in our Crocs playing days, the South Africans created lifting in the line-outs. So being the highly tuned athletes that we were, and wanting to keep up with the latest innovations, we decided we needed to try this. Don was our jumper and so the following Saturday, with our first throw into the line-out, we all lifted Don high into the air. With great skill Don caught the ball with ease. However, at that point we all let him go. Of course, he crashed to the ground with lots of hurt. Now that’s one good reason to be “Grumpy,” and we never dared to lift him again.
Don had many passions in life, including his work, leisure, and his sport. Rifles was a major part of this, and although he had his famous Grumpy side, he was also very loyal and generous in his under the radar-style.
